Our results at A-Level place Twynham School amongst the very top performing schools and colleges in the country. Students leaving the Sixth Form increasingly gain places at the highest quality universities and the country’s top specialist arts universities and colleges.
We were delighted to celebrate the culmination of yet another year of good A-Level Results in 2023.
The national picture saw student performance dip on 2022 results which had seen students receive advance knowledge of content alongside the awarding of more generous grade boundaries. 2023 however saw the grade boundaries return to 2019 thresholds.
Twynham’s 2023 cohort was the largest it has ever been, with students having met the entry requirements based upon School Assessment Grades, and course suitability for some students going some way to explain the dip at A*-C. Regardless, we are proud to see that the pass rate was up on national average and that importantly 77% of students secured their first choice university, with a further 29 progressing through clearing.
We are particularly proud of our continued success in supporting students within the Performing Arts sector at a time when other sixth form schools and colleges may be under pressure to reduce curriculum offerings. Other subjects of notable success include; History, English Language & Literature and Business which had an A*-B attainment significantly above national average.
