Entry Requirements

Our Standard Entry Requirement for A-Level courses is six Grade 5s, to include English Language and Maths.

This tariff applies to most course options. However, some subject combinations do not require this. For example, a student hoping to secure a place on a Music degree may apply for Music and Music Technology and two other courses. In this case the standard entry requirement need not apply as the student's ability in Music is clearly the key. For this reason, every student who applies to the Sixth Form will need to meet with a senior member of staff from Twynham School to discuss their plans and potential subject mix. An appointment will be given to all applicants and, following this discussion, a programme of study can be agreed and an offer made stating the entry requirements.

For BTEC Courses, our Entry Requirements change according to the level of the course.

For our Level 2 course in Engineering our entry requirements are four GCSEs at grade 3 and above, including English Language and Maths. Please note that for Health and Social Care, you should also have grade 3 in Science.

For our Level 3 courses in Health and Social Care and Sport, our entry requirements are four GCSEs at grade 4 and above, including English Language, Maths and Science.

Students applying from overseas should contact the Sixth Form Office directly to discuss entry requirements.

We are likely to be oversubscribed and it is therefore essential that you work hard to make sure that you meet the entry requirement stated on the offer. As well as meeting the academic requirements, we are looking for students who show ambition, are likely to embrace the special culture of our Sixth Form and have the inclination to give as well as receive.
